Sands Cotai Central Macau

Design Manager - Hsin Chong

Mar 2011 - Feb 2013

At the time, Sands Cotai Central was one of the largest integrated resorts under development in the world, and started phased opening in 2012.

As part of the client development team, focussed on two phases of VIP Gaming interior design development spanning 23,000m2. Also design manager for ballrooms, meeting rooms, hotel spas, and fitness areas.

Managed external design consultants, oversaw their documentation and worked closely with the construction teams to ensure smooth execution of the design vision.

In 2012, developed Venetian's first modular one and two-table VIP gaming rooms which revolutionized space efficiency and generated increased gaming revenue per m2. This modular planning methodology is similar to hotel room planning and went on to become the standard for Venetian's VIP gaming business in Macau.

Collaborated with design consultants:

Wilson Associates Dallas - ID

Aedas Hong Kong - Architecture & ID

This is one of my sketches which is a guide for the local interior designer Aedas, to improve the ballroom interior design.

These VIP gaming rooms had luxury interior finishes such as hand-painted wall coverings, also custom furniture. Wall panels were upholstered with leather hides which were tufted with Swarovski crystals. Custom door handles were hand-blown Murano glass with gold leaf inside each glass handle.
