Parisian Macau

Senior Design Manager - Venetian Macau Ltd

Feb 2013 - March 2016

Parisian is a US$3 billion integrated resort project in Sands' portfolio, located on the famed Cotai Strip in Macau.

Managed the primary interior design consultant who was responsible for substantial areas of the project: all casino areas (mass gaming, high limit and VIP salons), hotel reception and entry rotunda, public circulation, retail gallery and MICE.

Provided all the VIP gaming space planning for an area of approximately 7000m2 during 2013/4.

Worked with local interior designers and architects in Hong Kong to develop tender and construction documentation based on the primary interior design consultant's designs.

Facilitated the flow of information between the design teams in Hong Kong and Chicago, ensuring coordination, clarity of design intent and feasibility for pricing and construction.

Coordinated efforts with the FFE team to ensure seamless integration of decorative lighting, furniture, and artwork.

Conducted regular site visits and traveled to factories in China to check interior construction quality on behalf of the owner.

Managed the interior design and development of this feature entry rotunda which included a lot of intricate stone detailing. The fountain is a replica of the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

This is my sketch to help the interior design consultants Pierre-Yves Rochon understand the allowable mass and size of the main casino chandelier over gaming tables. They were just about to start the custom chandelier design and the high-definition cameras needed to be allowed for.

Reception
White Box Millwork Mock-ups

This main hotel reception area is very complicated and has many layers of intricate classic French interior design details. I managed this with the primary interior designers Pierre-Yves Rochon who were based in Paris and Chicago.

On the left is one of the key pieces of counter millwork which is for the reception area, and was carefully designed and studied until we were satisfied.

It took 18 months to take each key piece of guest counter millwork in the podium through this process.

On the left is the whitebox mock-up to test design, shape, scale and equipment fit.

Above is the same final counter in place x 32, ready to check-in for 3000 guest rooms and suites on opening day.
